Ordering the Correct Size Mounting Plate for Your Setup
This section is to help you select the correct size mounting plate when ordering.
The distance between the screws under your arm pads is the critical dimension which will determine which width carbon mounting plate you need to order.
Step 1: Remove armrest pads
Step 2: With a tape measure, measure centre to centre distance between the screws under your arm pads
Step 3: Use chart below to select appropriate mounting plate width

Example: If the centre to centre distance between the screws measures 130mm; then the 'Medium' would be the best size but the 'Wide' and 'X-wide' would also work as they are all within the minimum and maximum range. Its better to select the narrowest width plate that fits within the range because then the plate wont protrude wider than the arm rests and it will be more aerodynamic.

Fitting Guide
Thank you for choosing Absolute Speed. Correct installation ensures optimal aerodynamics, hydration access, and race-day performance. Follow these simple steps to fit your BTA (Between-the-Arms) Hydration System securely and effectively.
What You’ll Need:
-
4mm and 5mm Hex Keys (Allen Keys)
-
Torque Wrench (recommended)
-
Your Tri Bars & Compatible Bottle Cages
Step 1: Measure Tri Bar Width
-
Measure the centre-to-centre distance between your tri bars.
-
Ensure your bars fall within the compatible range for the mounting plate (most setups are compatible).
-
Still Unsure? Send us a head-on photo of your cockpit and include the measurement between your tri bars. Our team will advise the best fit email contact@absolute-speed.com or use the upload a file option below.
Step 2: Position the Mounting Plate
-
Place the carbon base plate between your tri bars, aligning it with your preferred bottle access position.
-
Use the mounting slots to adjust width and angle as needed.
-
Secure the plate using the supplied bolts — finger-tighten first, then torque evenly.
-
Ensure the plate sits level and is centred between the bars for optimal aero performance and stability.
Step 3: Attach the Bottle Cage(s)
-
Secure your chosen bottle cage(s) to the mounting plate using the provided screws.
-
Align the cage(s) for optimal bottle access while in aero position.
-
Make sure bolts are tightened evenly and securely.
-
For double stacked setups, ensure cages are vertically aligned for clean airflow and gel storage access.
Step 4: Configure Your Setup
-
Choose your preferred hydration configuration:
-
Double Stacked: Two bottles vertically, cone facing athlete for maximum hydration and aero performance.
-
Single Stacked: One bottle with cone facing athlete for streamlined efficiency.
-
Single Without Cone: One bottle without cone, facing away from athlete (for German regulation compliance).
Step 5: Check Clearance and Access
-
Ensure bottles can be inserted and removed easily while in your TT position.
-
Confirm that the front cone (if used) fits snugly and does not interfere with arm position.
Step 6: Storage Compartment (if applicable)
-
Place 1–2 Maurten Gels (or similar) into the compartment within the cone for easy mid-race access.
-
Ensure the cone is securely fitted to maintain aerodynamic performance.
Step 7: Final Checks
-
Verify all bolts are tightened to the correct torque.
-
Test bottle engagement and removal while stationary.
-
Go for a test ride and fine-tune the position if needed.
